    About Cypress Texas

Cypress is located to the southwest and northeast of Highway 290 just a few miles northwest of downtown Houston. This community is one of the fastest growing areas and school districts in the United States. It has traditionally been one of the most sought after suburbs in the Houston metropolitan. To truly understand the popularity of Cypress, future home owners should understand where this once rural community came from and where it is going.

Cypress of the past was shaped by the German settlers that arrived in the area in the 1840’s and street names like Huffmeister and Telge still hint to the communities roots. Cypress, Cy-Fair, and Cypress Fairbanks are often used interchangeable to refer to the area. The two communities (Cypress and Fairbanks) forever became linked in the 1930’s when Big Cypress School and Fairbanks High School combined to form the beginning of the Cy-Fair Independent School District. The community began its true path to growth in the 1990’s when several master planned communities started development in the area. Geographically Cypress offers something for everyone, with heavily forested land and lots north of 290 and mostly ranch type land south of 290.
