Many Houstonians have been eagerly awaiting our third loop around the city. The Grand Parkway will eventually stretch around the entire city, making the commute to through this sprawling metropolitan even easier.
Over the last few years we have seen this city grow exponentially. The west Houston suburbs have seemed to explode with both residential and commercial real estate. With the city expanding outward, our highways are seemingly always under construction.
We’ve all been wondering when the newest section of 99 would be completed. Well wonder no longer.
Contractor Zachry-Odebrecht Parkway Builders has announced segments F-1, F-2 and G of the Grand Parkway will open sometime in the first quarter of 2016. This is the part of the highway that will run from 290 to 59. The road will be tolled, but will surely relieve some of the traffic congestion we’ve seen.
“All three segments are scheduled to be open first quarter of 2016,” public information officer Ibette Cavazos said. “We don’t have an exact date yet. Once that becomes available, we’ll share that with the public.”
So look out Houston! By March of 2016 we’ll be that much closer to our third loop!
